Heart failure (HF) is a growing public health concern, often resulting from poorly managed hypertension, diabetes, and other cardiovascular risk factors. Preventing HF requires early intervention, including lifestyle modifications such as a healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management. Nurses play a critical role in educating patients about these preventive measures and supporting them in adopting healthier lifestyles.
In Bayelsa State, where cardiovascular risk factors are prevalent due to lifestyle habits such as high salt consumption, sedentary behavior, and smoking, nurse-led education on lifestyle modification is crucial. However, the effectiveness of such interventions in preventing HF remains underexplored.
This study seeks to evaluate the impact of lifestyle modification education by nurses on HF prevention in Bayelsa State, focusing on patient knowledge, behavior change, and risk reduction.
Despite increasing awareness of cardiovascular diseases, HF cases continue to rise in Bayelsa State, indicating gaps in prevention strategies. Many individuals engage in unhealthy behaviors due to lack of knowledge or motivation to change. While nurses provide lifestyle education, the extent to which this influences HF prevention is unclear.
There is a need to evaluate whether nurse-led education leads to significant lifestyle changes and reduces HF risk factors. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of such interventions and identify areas for improvement.
This study will focus on individuals at risk of HF in Bayelsa State, evaluating their responses to nurse-led lifestyle education. Limitations may include variations in individual motivation levels and access to lifestyle modification resources.
